an offer I couldn't refuse!!

  • 6

At a local thrift store. First I have to say, I already have TWO Cuisinart food processors!?! First one, I bought as a gift to self several years ago... little less than $100, if I recall correctly. Second one, found at a thrift store for $8! Had 2-3 disks for slicing/shredding, ran great... figured a spare bowl at the least. Got it home and it was a step UP from what I already had... larger capacity... bowl too big. SOOO, original has been living on shelf in garage ever since.

Today, I stop in SAME thrift store (new location) and there's ANOTHER Cuisinart food processor. This time with a MAJOR MESSA discs in a rack/holder... again $8 for everything! Just could NOT pass up all those extra attachments and a spare bowl! BUT this one is yet another step UP from second one I got!?! Couldn't find it at C's website... probably discontinued... an older model, not what ya see on cooking shows these days. Had booklets with it. There are ELEVEN different discs... slicing, shredding, julienne, french fries. According to booklet, over $200 worth of stuff... averaging $18-30 each! Have NO idea what capacity is or how to figure that out... not that it matters much. It's a DLC-7 Super Pro. Two buttons... on and pulse/off.

  1. Hi, kseiverd:

Wow. Good finds! If you have an extra DLC-7Pro bowl, I'll gladly take it off your hands.

Would you mind listing the discs? I had no idea there were 11 different ones made.

    Aloha,

      Slicing disks... 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 mm. Sherdding disks... "miduim" and "fine". Julienne... 2X2 and 3X3?? Something marked FF... 6X6.

      1. Don't have extra bowl... 3 different sizes?!? Asking sister if she wants one for her rental place. Disks are in dishwasher right now. The rack to hold them had 2-3 empty slots, so must be more than 11 possibilities?? I'll list them later today/tonight.

        1. I've seen Cuisinart FPs at my favorite thrift store too. Last one I saw didn't have many extra discs and I passed but now my elderly Braun FP is showing signs of eminent demise and I'm wishing I did buy it.

I think older people who no longer cook get rid of them, as least in the neighborhood near my thrift store.
