If you are there on a Sunday you should think about getting brunch at the Sheraton Palace Hotel.

And her wallet--for $85.00 pp, it seems important to mention.

It's at the bottom of the attached menu plus tax and gratuity, add 20%. Kids are cheap at $45..

Dottie's True Blue Cafe on 6th between Market and Mission. Get there early, as there will likely be a line. Check out the chalkboard for daily specials.

My 2 adult kids and I had a wonderful and very filling breakfast there this past Saturday; I had a special which was two zucchini cakes topped by poached eggs and salsa, accompanied by home fries and a small bowl of mixed fresh fruit. The kids and I split a humongous pecan cinnamon roll, and we each had coffee and a drink (mimosas and a Bloody Mary). Great start to a great day.

A respected and well traveled hound commented on a breakfast topic on another board, stating he could eat the lemon ricotta griddle cakes at the Four Seasons every day.

The St Regis is not too far from Blue Bottle Mint Plaza. You can get excellent coffee along with savoury and sweet breakfasts that change (I think) daily. Two long and not terribly salutary blocks southwest -- hope I've got my ordinals right! -- along Mission, then jog up Mint Plaza just after 5th. http://www.bluebottlecoffee.com/cafes... If you're feeling naughty, tried the New Orleans iced coffee. I love it so much we've started making it at home in Vancouver using the recipe they have on their website, albeit without the BB coffee, alas. Still darn fine.

I'm not sure how far you consider out of walking distance, but the best place my wife and I found for breakfast during our stay was Mama's. It's not overly expensive, but it is about a mile away so it may not be within your travel range.
