Stopping for the night in Carlisle and need ideas on where to have dinner. Needs to be casual but have great food. No chains please. Thanks.

  1. My favorite spot is Cafe Bruges. The food is great on its own, but if you are a beer fan then it is a can't miss.

    1. Mount Fuji is pretty good if you like Asian, and I go to the Back Door Café for a good, more casual meal.

      1. Thanks for the suggestions. Very helpful. Cafe Bruges sounds great! Back Door Cafe sounds great too though according to their website they are closed for vacation. Mt. Fuji sounds good as well but I think Cafe Bruges is the one. Thanks again!

        1. Reviving this old link to second Café Bruges-we stopped there a couple of times when passing through the area.
Nice, relaxed spot with great beer selections, really good frites (try the curry ketchup). Also can recommend the leek tart and the daily quiche - both perfect custardy goodness, the Waterzooi of fish-large portion, cooked perfectly and the crabcake sandwich.
Easy street parking, and there are several nice bookstores in the area, so it's a great place to take a break from the road.

          1. Cafe Bruges as stated is great. Andalusia is just around the corner from there though and does a decent rendition of some traditional tapas from Southern Spain along with a touch of Moroccan as well. It's a good second option to look into.
