Home Cooking Dish of the Month (August 2013) Voting

L.Nightshade Jul 29, 2013 10:14 AM

We're ready to start voting for the DOTM for August.
This month we have four dishes that have received five or more votes. I've taken a little liberty with combining dishes that are similar, especially where some people have the dishes paired. Your choices for August are:

CHILLED SOUP

COMPOSED SALADS

ICE CREAM/GELATO/SORBET

TOMATO SAUCE AND TOMATO JAM

You can view the nomination thread here:
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/909990

As usual, record your vote by clicking on "recommend" in the post for your preferred dish.

**Remember, only one vote per participant**
But you can change your vote if you change your mind.

Voting will be open until July 31th at 11pm Pacific time (2 am on August 1st Eastern time, and 6 am August 1st GMT).

Love the idea of making ice cream, and this could be just the excuse to try one of the recipes I have bookmarked somewhere for those of us without the machines.

I will not be able to participate until the very end of August after my reno is complete, but I just ordered a new ice cream book!

I don't suspect "cheating" here, just distraction by all the great choices. Remember, you can only vote for one item in this round. If there are two boxes that have turned red, that means you've voted twice.

LN: Would a type of 7-layer salad work as a "composed" salad?

You mean like those "how to beat the salad bar" salads? I don't see why not.

Well, now that you've said 7 layer is in, I'm on board. Have one on my menu for next week! Otherwise I wasn't gonna "play" this month. I won't do Chilled Soup, Ice Cream/Gelato/Sorbet or Tomato Sauce/Tomato Jam at this point.

Does a "Taco Salad" qualify as composed?
