    It's one thing to have a rogue employee however it's a completely different thing to have management and or ownership involved.

    If the customers are able to produce their credit card statement showing the tip was charged to their account, there are several forms of criminal activity here. Shocking that with the publicity this was receiving that management allowed it to spiral to the point it's at.

    Let the heads roll.

      @jredivici: Shouldn't we know the truth before we call for the rolling of heads? Even if Ms. Morales, a Marine Corps veteran, did forge this receipt as a way to express her personal outrage or her delusions, shouldn't we be more concerned with the wide range of far worse crimes committed each day?

        If recent developments are true, then I would say no.....the mere action to find the original charge receipt should be quite easy. They could have checked on it when the story first broke out....Telling a lie to dupe the public is not a small thing and should not be excused....just ask the people who actually gave her money for her deceit

          Not sure if you read where I said;
          "If the customers are able to produce their credit card statement"

          I'm not sure what other evidence it would take to prove the wrong doing is strictly on the establishments behalf. So I did state once the evidence is in or the "truth" then heads should roll, not before. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough. (In the video above provided by Marlboro Man News 4 NY states the clients showed them their credit card statement showing the full charge, including the tip was charged on their card)

          In this case it's reported that the waitress has collected several thousands of dollars from sympathizers who have sent her donations based on her and the restaurants lies. I take a harsh view on those who deceive the generosity of the public for their personal gain.

          I stand by my comment(s) as stated.

        I would like to meet my friends for lunch there.

          A friend and I went there for lunch today and it was PACKED!

                  Our waiter today said they recently had a radio promotion (a local personality was broadcasting from their restaurant), and it has been very busy since then.

                  To be honest, the service overall is still working out the kinks and is pretty slow, but the food (if you order of the "Traditions" menu - I can't vouch for the Americanized-Chinese menu) is really good.

                  Famdoc will be happy to know that they now have an additional Authentic Chinese menu. The cover states that "all items are by reservation only", but if you go when it is not busy and order something with ingredients they have on hand they will still make the dishes for you. The menu has things like bitter melon dishes, fish braised in hot oil, pigs feet........ yum!!!!!

              what do you think of golden wok in Raritan by Somerville. I think fortune cookies in Bridgewater is good too.

                Golden Wok has above average American Chinese fare, but if you order off the back of the menu (which is in Chinese) it is really good! Love the shredded beef with peppers and squid with peanuts. They do have a copy or two of the Chinese menu with English translations, and they will give it to you if you ask.

                  Sure would appreciate it if someone would take a few moments and translate the menu for us! This "secret" Chinese menu could be the Chowhound find of the year in Central NJ.

                    If you go there they have a printed English copy. :-)

                    Edited to say: okay, this is really weird. Here is the place I was talking about:

                    But the link that famdoc posted is for a site with the same address, but the pictures are not of the restaurant I was referring to. Weird. Is there a secret Golden Wok in addition to the secret Chinese menu? :-

                    )

                    Edited again to say: did some Googling, the pictures on the website that famdoc posted the link to are of Empire Fusion in Metuchen. Weird.

                        @esjro: Thank you! What a service you've done for Central NJ chowhounds. I'll be passing that way again in three weeks and will bring your translation along to help me order. Love that "explosion double d" by the way!

                          If you like hot foods try the shredded beef with peppers (aka "Little Pepper Beef" per Google Translate). I am also curious about the "Tofu Mushroom Council," LOL!

                            Never even thought about using google translate. That is so cool. In addition to translation, you can have the words pronounced by a very pleasant voice. This is going to be fun.

                    We went about a month or so ago as a family for dinner on a weekend. To be transparent, we are Chinese and having looked at their menu online and seeing a small, traditional chinese menu that was posted, we went there specifically to try some of those dishes and hoping they would be good since the area doesn't have many authentic chinese restaurants.

                    The atmosphere and decor is really beautiful. The food though was only "meh". We had chinese meatballs (literal translation of the dish from chinese is Lion's Head), the tea smoked duck, the sauteed stringbeans, salt and pepper shrimp, and scallion pancakes. The only thing that was really good was the stringbean dish. Everything else, while certainly edible, was only ok and not very memorable.

                    The worst part was the sal and pepper shrimp (jiao yan xia for those who know the dish's chinese/pinyin name). The shrimp are served with tortilla chips and no spiced salt (the jiao yan part). When we asked for it, it took them a while to find it, and only after a detailed explanation of what we were looking for.

                    A return trip for lunch for the shrimp days later resulted in an utter fail. The waiter and kitchen staff were unable to produce the spiced salt and so the dish was essentially just fried shrimp.

                    The prices are relatively high for the size and types of dishes. We won't be going back...

                      @edh1713: Wonder whether you have ever been to Mei-Mei in Somerset and what your opinion is on it. It's a rather dreary, take-out place, but features some "authentic" Chinese (I believe, Cantonese) dishes. I recently had their salt-fried squid and thought it was quite good.

                        @famdoc - no, haven't tried Mei-Mei before. We do cantonese food more in the Edison area, but may have to try Mei-Mei. For Shanghainese, we've been going to Hong Fu in Highland Park quite frequently.
