Seafood Paradise Koreatown

I notice a new korean restaurant across from the Koreatown Galleria. Their parking lot seems to be full at 5:30 this evening.
Googling indicated that is is a grilled seafood place.
Has anyone been?

  1. This sounds like the restaurant my parents read about in the Chinese paper when they were in town. It was Chinese place, not Korean, but was in Koreatown. Not sure if its the same place that you're talking about.

I cannot tell if it is Chinese or Korean. But googling this place shows pictures of grilled seafood similar to the style of Jae Bu Do, a Korean grilled seafood place.
My last experience at Jae Bu Do as an novice was enjoyable limited to the grilled live abalone and oyster that was cooked table-side by our waitress. For the rest of our meal that included several types of clams, shrimps, octopus, squid and fish etc were super-overcooked by us to an un-chewable state. As in BBQed kelbi and bulgogi, we aimed for a nice char.
For the future, any advise as to how to properly grill seafood at these Korean seafood BBQ restaurants is appreciated.

The pics look pretty good. I'll drop by the next time I'm in the area.

It doesn't look like chinese style, but chinese people are everywhere and do everything. Wouldn't be surprised heh

If my wife walks in to this place and sees this on the grill I might as well just voluntarily go sleep on the couch for the next week... (g)

Scallop with roe! Worth sleeping on the couch I say... ;-)

We would have no row over the roe, scalloped or otherwise. But if she got a gander at those tentacled critters on the grill my goose would be cooked...

It's korean alright..the korean characters say "charcoal grill: clam heaven." I guess seafood paradise sounds a little less cheesy. Those clams in yelp pics are ginormous! <shudder> but I'd be all over those squids.

clam heaven: James Deen's new (see food) porn.

all the cool Ktown kids are at EMC right now. cuz, really, "Korean" grilled seafood is insipid & monotonous as hell.

Not judging. Likewise, don't judge that I get the joke. Moreover, thanks for typing in a low enough grade level that I can comprehend.
