Ha Long Bay closing July 30

Had lunch at Ha Long Bay today, and I'm sad to report a notice was up that they are shutting down for good on July 30th - sounds like rent's too high. Plans to reopen elsewhere seemed up in the air.

Slice of fish, rice and salad almost $30
    No loss to good taste
Sign on door says Duckees is opening soon.
    Canard on!

We had dinner there on Wednesday night. From what our server (daughter of the owners?) was saying, it's really about there just not being enough steady business. She said that in April and May they were totally empty. And they're also fearing the disruptions that will come with the construction of the LRT on that section of Eglinton.

Another Asian restaurant will be opening in their space; an Asian-fusion spot.

The curse of neighbourhoods like this are the rents. Ha Long Bay was a welcome addition to Eglinton West. Here's wishing Good luck to them opening up again somewhere more affordable.

That's too bad. It was pretty good.

That's sad. Food is really good. Staff always great.

            Thanks for the info.
