Catch dineLA dinner

i had:
1) Roasted Beets, Burrata, Arugela, Grapefruit sections, and Toasted Pistacios
2) Cioppino
3) Chocolate Expresso Tart w/ warm salted caramel sauce

This was a phenomenally good meal all the way through.
I plan to go back tomorrow and order all the same things.

The quality of the scallop, shrimp, and white fish, were as good as any i've had in my entire life.
Portions size very generous.
The sauce was NOT gloppy roux-based grease, but a delicate broth-type sauce poured over the platter of perfectly prepared and perfectly warm fish at the table.
The filling of the expresso/chocolate tart was not at all mushy or pudding-like and the flavor was deeply intense. the caramel sauce was served on the side and was perfect.

also, the room was beautiful and the view of the sunset over the ocean enhanced the experience.

  1. I assume this was a $45 dinner? Do they validate parking -- hotel parking is VERY expensive and finding anything nearby is problematic.

I've been praising Catch for years, it's consistently good. View, service, atmosphere and great food. I find parking to be easy, yes they validate.

This dinela deal is particularly good, at $35 with half the menu available. Glad you liked it, it's my go-to restaurant.

also, should have mentioned that Kyle (sp?) is a superb host; he is friendly, corgial, and NOT stuffy!

        nosh: re: parking.
even with validation, they will charge $7 for parking.
if you leave a tip, it's even more.

i'd investigate the public lot next door to the hotel.
i've heard that seniors can buy a special pass to the public lots in santa monica.

wsg -- I thought we were CH buddies. And now you are implying I'm a senior. ;-( I am years away...

Was the DineLA dinner menu $35 or $45?

i didn't pay for the dinner, i did the driving, so i didn' look at the price.
since you are too young to be a senior, maybe there is a way to game the system in some other way?
