40th B-day Girl's Foodie Week-end-- need help please

Four girlfriends (LA, Seattle, Sac), celebrating our friend's 40th bday without the kids (we all have littles, so we're thrilled to get away). Last week-end in August (Fri lunch- Sun lunch). Birthday girl wants good food in a fun, unpretentious atmosphere. Incanto? Rich Table? Gary Danko? We're not too familiar w/ the city (although most of us grew up in Los Altos). Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated. We were thinking of doing Ferry Bldg on Sat am. But, what is a fun, safe neighborhood to stay, that isn't too far? Any other tips/recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wow-- reading greyelf's posts. Maybe I should finish reading before asking for recommendations. However, where should we stay that is safe, fun, convenient?

There are lots of hotels not far from the Ferry Building, around the Embarcadero and Montgomery BART / Muni stations. Public transit is great since that's the business district and the transit lines follow the commuter patterns.

There's lots of great food to be had though you have to avoid the mediocre, overpriced places that serve the weekday lunch crowds.

Snagging lunch at Cotogna is a coup - go for it!

Thank you! Is the tasting menu at Aziza worth it ($95)?
