Contorno to serve w hazan's sausage w smothered onions and tomatoes

Making dinner for my mother in law's birthday tomorrow. Various antipasti, homemade pici pasta w garlic and olive oil, then the sausage for a secondo. Can't decide what to make for a veggie side. Ideas?

    Marcella usually suggests doesn't she? I would say no contorno, but follow with a nice palate-cleansing green salad.

      I would make broccoli rabe,spinach/Swiss chard with raisins and pine nuts or raw zucchini salad(you could also saute it)I would make something light and refreshing. I think the plate would look quite bare without a cotorno.

        Thanks, all. I don't have her book so couldn't see any suggestions. Per hubby's request I ended up making Brussels sprouts w shallots and balsamic. Not entirely seasonal but always tasty. Dinner was a hit!
