I know there are some small, older threads about this, but I need current info for my craving.
Opinions on the best, closest to real Italian, most flavorful gelato in the Houston area? I'm willing to drive for great stuff!
And I guess you should know my pet peeve is that it always seems to be served overly cold and hard in Houston. It's held at a colder temp than in Italy. But alas, I'm not in Italy right now, so I'll probably have to get over that. I expect it's in response to our climate.
I know y'all get tired of hearing me say "Phoenicia", but Phoenicia Deli, (around the corner from the market), has gelato that seems pretty popular. I've tried it and liked it but I'm not really a sweet-eater, so I don't how it compares with elsewhere.
Also, isn't that what Nundini's is known for?
I actually wasn't overly impressed with Nundini's gelato, although I like Nundini in general. I've looked at Phoenicia but not tried it. I should give it a try on the next visit. I think I just have to get taste memories of Italy out of my head and settle for the best I can get here. I was hoping somebody would have some fabulous recommendation that I had not discovered.
