Christmas 2013 in New Orleans?

Hey guys,

Looking for some advice on planning my christmas eating in New Orleans. I'm from Australia, so not familiar with how things are in NOLA, but around what time do restaurants start releasing their christmas menus?

Also, any particular recommendations? I'll be in NOLA from the 24th to 26th of Dec, leaving on the 27th.

Heard commander's palace is good, so hoping to get to try that out :)

  1. We go to NOLA every year at Christmas; it's magical and the weather is pleasant, sometimes downright chilly and damp too! Everything is decorated and it's a beautiful time to visit.
The only downside is that A LOT of places, (with the exception of hotel-based restaurants), are closed on Christmas day and often some of our other spots like Napoleon House are sometimes closed for a few days for a holiday break.
If you google 'christmas in New Orleans' there is a site that is usually up and active sometime in October maybe?
You'll still find plenty of places on the 25th; I'd recommend any of the Besh restaurants (with the exception of August) those are all tied to hotels and will be open I believe.
For FUTURE reference, we always go around the 18th or 19th and leave on xmas; then you get the maximum holiday excitement, every place you want to eat at will more likely be open; there is a great gathering in Jackson Square the week before xmas for caroling, etc.

      Great recommendations!

    2. Hello! I highly recommend the Bombay Club. They are open on Christmas Day.
