Are you making a specialty food?

this may be too exotic for the twin cities

do you know of any places serving, at least in the summer, home made cold beet borscht served with sour cream and maybe a small boiled potato. nothing out of a jar. might be a more realistic query for NYC or chicago.

Hard to find maybe. Exotic....I would say that is slightly an uninformed assumption. I have had it at 2 different places in the metro area in the past few years.

I think I had a good one last summer at a Ukrainian deli and grocery in Coon Rapids, of all places, they have a LOT of other exotic stuff too. Kind of cute though out of the way, not sure of the hours.

Restaurant Baku in Plymouth, MN is an Azerbaijanian restaurant that serves Borscht. I've eaten there twice and like it very much.

Try Moscow on the Hill and/or Russian Tea House. They both have but I'm not sure if they serve it cold.

          I haven't had it but it's on Cecil's menu. http://www.cecilsdeli.com/famous.html

I've made special requests at Moscow on the Hill in the past and they've always been willing to accomdate. Even though it may not technically be on the menu, they may be able to prepare that for you. I think that is your best bet.

Kramarczuk's in NE Mpls is probably your best bet.

Oh gee this makes me miss the Old City Cafe, which used to be located at Grand and Snelling a good 15 yrs ago. They had great cold borscht that I still crave on a regular basis. Sigh.

Needless to say I will be watching this thread with interest!
