What's new/exciting in Dumbo/Vinegar Hill?

bklynfoodiegirl Jul 18, 2013 12:23 PM

Planning a Saturday afternoon/early evening romp in the area with an out-of-town guest. Thought it would be nice to pop into various places for a drink and a nibble as we stroll about. Anything new, notable and not-to-be missed?

Sadly, it's not a very good neighborhood for food. VHH (and the nearby wine bar), Julianna's, and Gran Eletrica are probably the best of the lot. Rebar is fine for a lunch spot, but it's not destination worthy. No. 7 Sub is polarizing, but I enjoy it -- it'd be a good place to grab a quick sandwich to go sit in the park. Otherwise, it might be best to go to a nabe with better options.

I was wondering about the wine bar. Is it good?

Only new place I can think of is Julianna's pizza. Its the new place from Patsy Grimaldi that's in his old space. Pizza is better than the ones served at his namesake place. I'm thinking more about losses since Sandy as Governeur closed. That was probably the best restaurant in the area.

Have you been to Vinegar Hill House before? It's a few years old, and in my opinion the best restaurant in DUMBO/VH.

I've been, and I love it! Anything else you like over there?
