Stuffed clams at Whole Foods.....

I know, I know....."Whole Paycheck", and all of that..... I am not their biggest fan.

However there is a big one five minutes away from me. And it shares a parking lot with a really great/cheap liquor/wine shop. And we have a heat wave here this whole week. So I headed over there.

I live on the coast north of Boston, so I almost never browse in their seafood department. But in my travels today I could not resist the huge stuffed clams at $1. (one dollar) each. I absolutely LOVE stuffed clams. And I can honestly say that I bought a few just so I could file a report, I mean post a report.

There were no cooking instructions. I nuked mine for 90 seconds. They were nice and hot.

I ate the first one straight up. Not bad at all! I spiced up the second two, with very little effort, and they were even yummier.

They are HUGE. One per person would be generous as an appetizer.

Anyway, I thought they might be an interesting option for someone looking for an easy idea for a summer night, whether you are hosting or contributing. It would take like two minutes to enhance the stuffing with jazzier stuff. It is the "in the shell" thing that makes it special, and easy to scoop out and back in. At one buck each, they are an awesome bargain.

Hope this helps. Have a great weekend! (Oh, yeah, it's only Tuesday.....)

Thanks for the recommendation. I am a whole foods fan and I'm not sure I've seen these but I'll be on the lookout. I'm surprised you could just nuke them, that's even better. What were they stuffed with?

definitely worth checking out, the fish counter at the Andover MA store is pretty good.
If I'm looking for prepared food the stuffed clams and the crab cakes are always on the list.
