East Coast Has Cronuts; OB Has Cray-nuts

  • 5

Azucar in Ocean Beach, in response to the hybrid cronut craze that is sweeping the NYC area in which people are waiting on line up to 2 hours, has responded by coming up with its own version called the cray-nut.

  1. Thanks, looks good and worth a try.

    1. Arrgh. God save us all. The picture and description make this thing look and sound over the edge -- beyond decadent. And it shows up right after Mexico took over the title as the fattest country. Much easier to resist something that you can only get in NYC. But now I must keep myself away from Azucar... I know that DD will say "moderation is the key". Maybe, but I have no willpower when it comes to things like this. It's kind of like the ultimate upscale gourmet Twinkie.

If you've never been to Azucar, they also have amazing mojito cookies, among other delicious baked items and Cuban pressed sandwiches--impossible for me to resist.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner... that mojito cookie is seriously addictive. Love it with one of their cubano coffee shots...sugar coma follows :-)

No, I've never been there. But Cuban pressed sandwiches you say? Hmmmmm. OK, I need to take a look at their website. If I do go (I've put it on my list), I know I'm going to end up having a Cray-nut and two mojito cookies after the Cuban pressed sandwich, and...whoa! Five pounds heavier OTD. Very dangerous place.
