Cognac tasting in Toronto?

b00nes Jul 12, 2013 12:05 PM

My dad's birthday is coming up, he loves his cognac so I thought I'd take him out for an evening of steaks, cigars and cognac in Toronto. Can anyone recommend a good place to sample some great cognacs, preferably some uncommon choices beyond the usual Remy/Hennessy/Martell? Thanks!

Jacobs & Co for steak followed by cognac tasting at Spirit House.

Thanks, Spirit House looks like a fun place but their cognac selection seems to be the usual suspects - Remy, Courvoisier, Hennessy. I was hoping to find a place with a bit of more an eclectic selection, maybe with some Prunier, Boutinet, Filloux etc. - I'm a neophyte but my dad's family is originally from the Cognac region and it's always a challenge finding him an unusual bottle with the LCBO's stranglehold on the liquor market!

Try calling the Roof Lounge at the Park Hyatt at Avenue and Bloor. It's the type of place that seems like it would carry a wide variety of fine cognacs.

Not super fancy but I'd give batifole a call, I seem to remember them having a small selection, but not the usual suspects.
