Stopped in Delicious Orchards they had Heirlooms from PA @3.99 a lb said their own should be ripe next week. Stopped by the one on Gully & Wemrock on Sunday limited supply of Jersey tomatoes & charged me 3.50lb (ouch) but they were tasty

It's still pretty early in a normal year and we had a very cool, wet spring.

My mother bought some jersey tomatoes the other day in Freehold. On the corner of Wemrock Road and Gully. She paid $ 1.99 a pound and they were really good!

It's still a bit too early for tomatoes here in Jersey.

The first of Jersey tomatoes were out en 'masse' at all farm stands last week.

Heirlooms will take another couple of weeks.

With the reduction of heavy rains and more sunlight the past week, the tomatoes should be prospering and getting better.

Most of the farm stands I've been at, they say at least another 2 weeks (this was last week). More and more farms are growing them, and each summer brings an increase in the variety available.

I think most of us look so forward to this part of the Jersey produce season. My own heirlooms (at least those not 'toppped off' by the deer) are coming along, and I usually get my own 'little' bounty each late summer.

Be patient. But you can possibly try this weekend
