Silver Spring/Bethesda - Extraordinary breakfasty takeout food?

Mr Taster Jul 11, 2013 10:20 AM

I'd like to bring a nice spread of something breakfasty to an office I'll be visiting in the area.

Are there any extraordinary doughnut shops, bagelries, etc. that could put together an easily transportable and well-traveling breakfast spread?

I'm looking for something really good-- not Einstein Bagels and Dunkin Donuts. (Though I like Dunkin Donuts). Preferably somewhere local where the owner loves what they do.

Ideally this would be between Silver Spring and Bethesda, but I'll travel if it's worth it.

Thanks!

Does it need to be Kosher? If so Shalom's does a great spread of fish veggies cream cheese & good Ny style bagles. If not call Parkside Deli. It is Kosher style way cheaper and all the food is awesome.

Had Goldberg's bagels with my observant dad this morning and they were indeed quite good. Thanks for mentioning this.

Bethesda Bagels in Bethesda, MD. Quality bagels and very nice spreads, I think the red pepper is my favorite. Large selection of flavors. The spreads here are very smooth, pureed, maybe a bit more 'commercial' tasting than my favorite, but still a very good product. They also have a Dupont Circle location.

My favorite place is Izzie's Bagels in Rockville, - the spread are chunkier, maybe a bit fresher tasting. but that's more a question of perception and personal taste. Overall a better deli/bagel place with just one location.
