Beneventos North End.

Plan on lunch in the North End next week and DH will be tagging along. He tends to go for old school red sauce types of places. Beneventos has options he would be happy with and the one time I was there I liked it well enough. Anyone have any recent experience? Fall back places would be Lucia's, L'Osteria or Antico Forno. Any thoughts?

Antico is always a good bet, just stay with the entree's from their brick oven. The only down side in the summer, no air conditioning.

I really liked the pizza I had recently at Beneventos and told myself I should go back more often. Also, they do have AC if it is hot out.

Ahh I do recall last summer I was going to stop in but Beneventos was like a furnace. Oh well, it's off the list. It's supposed to be 90 on Monday. I really like AF for their brick oven dishes especially their chicken parm so I guess it's got the lead.

Beneventos does have AC. We originally were going to try Quattro (the old il panino express spot), but they had the windows open and it was 90. So, we ended up at Beneventos, which was nice and frosty.

Thanks for the ac update. Beneventos it is!! We'll have to check out Quattro when we walk by. I'm thinking of Paradiso for something sweet afterwards if we have room. If not, we'll get something at Maria's to take home. Thrilled to hear that Beneventos has ac.

Have been there many times and always love it. Also enjoyed their restaurant next door I think it's Antico Forno. We were going to go there last night for dinner but instead we just tried Quattro and was pleasantly surprised. I wish we made it for lunch so I could have had the lamb sandwich but I got the fish dish with the Scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari and catch of the day over pasta. It was delicious. Friend had the risotto of the day and loved it too. They roast the chickens on the spit right there as well as the other meats they do. We will be back- they also do pizza's

Today was the day so I thought I would give a quick update. I had made a reservation on open table which we really didn't need. When we arrived at 1:15 we were the only ones there although people slowly wandered in while we were dining. The ac was on so I was thrilled. I appreciate that you are able to order things your way. I went with the mussels cooked in a spicy tomato sauce and fusili. It was a generous portion of mussels with perfectly cooked pasta and a sauce that had just the right amount of heat. DC enjoyed his lasagna and the meatball that came with it. Very unusual for him to be happy with a meatball from a retaurant. Stopped at Paradiso before heading home and enjoyed a cannoli but after tasting his cheesecake with chocolate ganache I was envious. Monday seems to be the day to be in the North End as it was quiet everywhere. I saw just one person in Modern as I walked by and no line out the door at Mikes.
