Los Pinos - Bee Caves

Ate at the new Los Pinos location on Bee Caves. They say they've only been open about 4 weeks. I really loved it, a great duck mole enchilada dish and an excellent version of cochinita pibil. Really spicy, fresh-tasting salsa also.
I did search the board and there's several mentions of the original Hudson Bend location, which I've never been to, so I'm posting for 2 reasons:
1) Anybody been to both and can compare? If the original is better than the new one, I may have to make the drive, because that would mean it's excellent
2) The place was empty, and I'd like it to stick around, so if you like the original, and this is a better location, please give it a try.

  1. My go to mexican in town - best salsa for sure. I'm not the only one that feels this way. try the pozole sometime.

    1. We checked it out last weekend. I had the pozole, iced tea, and a pastor taco on the house made tortilla. She had two pastor tacos. Theirs is not my favorite pastor in town, but it's solid and good. same as the original location. The pozole was slightly more acidic tasting than the original shop's - but maybe I over-limed it. I was very put off by the tea - and told them it had a really bitter aftertaste and tasted "off". When I asked if they brewed it, the answer was "no", it's from a powder. WTF?? That's almost as outrageous as tea from a soda dispenser. inexcusable, what, it's hard to use tea bags? For this reason alone I may not visit bee cave's location again - same distance if not more from NW austin.
