Venice in August

sheils628 Jul 9, 2013 07:00 PM

I will be in Venice in mid-August and I'm worried that many of the restaurants that have come highly recommended on this board will be closed (Osteria alle Testiere, for example, has already informed me that they are closed until the end of the month).

Does anyone have any insight into the likelihood that other restaurants will be closed? And if that is the case, has anyone had experience traveling in Venice during this time and can recommend some great spots that will (probably) be open?

Thanks in advance!

There are places that are closed all of August (besides Alle Testiere, Fiaschetteria Toscana comes to mind) but many are open at least part of the month. Just to name a few good places: Al Covo, Antiche Carampane, Vini da Gigio, Corte Sconta, Osteria San Marco, Trattoria Da Fiore, Santa Marina., The exact dates changes year to year, therefore, email/phone them to check if they are open when you are there. From previous years, Al Bacareto, Boccadoro, Al Paradiso, Bancogiro, La Bitta, Da Alberto are open the entire month.
