What do you think of this list?
Agree?
Disagree?

There are a couple I am not familiar with, but by-and-large think it's a great list and a really good place to start planning.

No Alinea, no L20, no Everest, no Goosefoot :)

For a "highly elite group <that> covers the entire city, spans myriad cuisines and collectively satisfies all of your restaurant needs" those are interesting omissions.

If you have followed the list in the past, it intentionally omits the $$$$ places and only focuses on places that people might frequent regularly. They used to have that explained - I'm not sure why they left that tidbit out this time around. This list is updated pretty regularly.

I found it in a much older version of the list:

"This highly elite group covers the entire city, spans myriad cuisines and collectively satisfies all of your restaurant needs, save for those occasions when you absolutely must spend half a paycheck."

If that was still the case, Grace, which was recently added, should not have qualified then.

I agree 100%. I have no idea why that was added, but it seems that recently the list has taken a bit of an odd turn. You can see in the comments on the page at eater that people aren't too happy

All that said, the list is still a good one. Trying to choose the "top" 38 restaurants is an impossible task in Chicago, especially when your criteria is fluid.

Seems like Curtis Duffy gave them substantial access to the back story of designing and opening of Grace, which they covered in a lengthy series of well-written stories.

So a cynic might say they are playing favorites :)
