List of best NYC sweet treats
Does anyone know where I may locate such a list on the net? Looked here but couldn't find one...though I am fairly certain a thread of this nature must exist.
What I am looking for is a list of great places to get treats, ie, Donut Plant for the "X" donut, Serendipity 3 for the frozen hot chocolate, Magnolia Bakery for the banana pudding, Momofuku Milk Bar for crack pie, etc. Would love to get some hidden gems too of course!
PS - I really do like the banana pudding at Magnolia but it is about a zillion calories.
Our tolerance for sweetness might be a little different since I really dislike EVERYTHING at Momofuku Milk Bar and Magnolia's but some of my favorites are:
Kee's Choclates - Creme brulee, kaffir lime, coconut chocolates. Shiso and lavender macarons.
Hakkasan - The black sesame crémeux is stunningly good, more elegant and better flavor than the version I had at Eleven Madison Park.
Minamoto Kitchoan - sakuranbo and the mochi with black sesame
Dominque Ansel - DKA, madeleines
Bouchon - TKO
Molly's Cupcake - creme brulee cupcake
Laduree - salted caramel macaron
Hakata Ton Ton - soba creme brulee
Levain - Chocolate chip walnut, oatmeal rasin
Two Little Red Hens - red velvet cupcake
Doughnut Plant - creme brulee, tres leche
Il Laboratorio del Gelato - malt
ABC Kitchen - Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundae
Cocoron - Coconut Tapioca
For restaurant desserts, you can usually get them at the bar if you don't want to splurge on a full meal. Some favorites include:
Acme - beer and bread porridge with salted caramel ice cream
Lincoln - tartufo alla nocciola
The Smith - s'mores in a jar
Modern Bar Room - dark chocolate tart
Benoit - chocolate souffle
Manzo - hazelnut cake with zabaglione
Pig & Khao - halo halo
For desserts/sweets, do you want French style, Italian style, Anerican style, or Asian? Cakes, pies, cookies, macarons, tarts, croissants, cupcakes?
I think a lot of the "sweet treat" discussions get divided into separate bakery or ice cream/gelato or doughnut discussions.
Um, i don't think you can be worried about calories with this kind of question ! ;)
Don't forget city bakery's pretzel croissant
Jacques torres choco chip cookies
Bouchon bakery macarons
