Best brunch in North Beach area?

javabean116 Jul 9, 2013 12:13 PM

Hi fellow chowhounds!

I'll be visiting SF soon and will need a good rec for brunch in the North Beach area. No restrictions on price or type of food (although I do love a fine eggs benedict!).

thanks in advance!

    Most popular: Mama's
    Alternate: Don Pisto's
    Worth a cab ride: Brenda's

If you want dim sum, Lai Hong Lounge is a Chinatown favorite, and it's actually located on the very edge of Chinatown, basically in North Beach. Might not be what you are looking for, but thought I'd throw out that option.

North Beach also isn't super far from the Ferry Building, which is worth a visit, especially on Saturday for the farmer's market. Not necessarily great for a sit-down brunch, but if you're up for food stalls or sitting/eating outside, this could be good too.

mama's is very overrated. not terrible, but nothing i'd wait in line for (true of most brunch places with long lines,w ith the exceptions of dottie's and kate's kitchen).

if it's a weekend, go to 15 romolo. 2nd on lai hong too
