Left chicken breast out on counter

oops. I left a package of chicken breast out on the counter for 2.5 hrs. My house is about 70 degrees. Toss or keep??

  1. Unless you're making chicken sashimi, you should be fine. Follow your nose.

      ok, it felt a bit too room temp for my liking. i tossed it back in the fridge to muddle over...

    2. I think you'll be fine if you cook it to at least 165.

        Were the breasts frozen or not? If frozen, the conventional wisdom is not to refreeze.....but I can tell you you won't die if you do. Depending on how many breasts are in the package, i suggest cooking them within two days...If you don't want to use them all for one recipe....poach the rest to add to other recipes.

            like today? i'm not ready. can I cook them tomorrow? they were fresh not frozen fourunder. 2 breast in a package. Mary's chicken. I gave up on making dinner and went out for pizza.

              No worries cooking tomorrow....

                Though I am not a germophobe, I would either cook them right away, or get them in a marinade and cook them within the next 2 days.

          2. when in doubt, do without!

            but if they were frozen they should be okay.
