Anyone who actually lived in Sichuan?

I once studied in Chengdu for 6 months and now I'm still craving real Sichuanese food and have yet to find it. I read all of these recommendations from people who think they know what they are talking about when it comes to Sichuan food, and inevitably end up disappointed when I go to try it.

TV hosts, restaurant critics, regular Chinese (not Sichuanese) people think they know what they are talking about, BUT THEY REALLY DON'T! Unless someone lived in Sichuan they don't know.

I want this amazing flavor, the ma la, the fragrances and colors...
I'm looking for recommendation from Sichuanese people or those who lived there for a while. Willing to travel anywhere in the tri-state area for a Sichuanese fix.

    What have you tried in Manhattan? What have you tried in Flushing, Queens? Did you try posting on the Outer Boroughs board?

      DId you try Land of Plenty in midtown east? While I have never been to Sichuan, I have never experienced any Chinese restaurant quite like Land of Plenty. Full use of Sichuan peppercorn...fierce heat with lots of good flavor. I am addicted to this place.
