Italian seafood in Mon/Oc County?

Any chance of uncovering a hidden gem in this area. Used to love Luigi's on Shafto Rd. in Tinton Falls, but can't seem to find a reliable place for linguine with clams, scungilli, or even mussels marinara. Just looking for a good 'red sauce Italian' to fill a void. Thanks in advance!

I'm 2 minutes to late!! lol Yes +1 Jimmy's in Asbury.

(FYI Eddie's Place which is the new operator at Luigi's doesn't do a bad job of linguine in white clams. Every Tuesday (I think) is half off pasta night so you can try it out without having to spend too much if you don't like it.)

Jimmy's in AP is kinda the Robert DeNiro of the Mon/OC.

        2. You might consider Il Giardino Sul Mare in Forked River http://www.ilgiardinorestaurant.com . or further south to Joe Italiano's Maplewood Inn in Hammonton, NJ https://www.joesmaplewood.com

          1. Our goto red sauce is Tuzio's in Long Branch

Good spot, indeed. A bit more Peschi than DeNiro, but solid, nonrtheless.

What do you mean Tuzio’s is a bit more like Peschi? Like Tuzio's is funny, like Pesschi, they make you laugh?

You mean, let me understand this, 'cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little f*d up maybe, but like Peschi how? I mean funny like Peschi is a clown? They amuse you? They make you laugh, Tuzio’s here to f*n' amuse you? What do you mean funny? Funny how? How is Tuzio’s funny?

You realize that only five or six of us got that. Right? Nonetheless, it was "that big hit on the goal line" solid. "Duane playin' Statesboro" good.

                  1. re: MGZ

you know Spider, since the thread was started about seafood, maybe Pesce is more appropriate than DeNiro. (see what I did there)

Yeah you misspelled Joe's name!!! You see what I just did there? I'm not playing dumb either, this is genuine!

I did. As well as three other local 'hounds.

I bow before you. That was "three hit shutout" terrific.

                      2. re: MGZ

5 or 6 of us, YES!!!! So I beat GOW yesterday with her Zeppelin and Ke$ha reference, there you said only 18 or 19 would get that!!

                        Woooohoooooo!!!

                        1. re: jrvedivici

                          That kid's sharp.

If I split for a while, you promise to play the game by the new rules? Push the envelope for me, OK?

I will add that our fellow 'hound, ChefMd, wherever he is these days, can hit the "12 to 6" with fish. I once dared him to convince me salmon could taste good. He busted out a thing involvin' line caught red flesh and watermelon. I wound up lickin' the plate.

I say this 'cause I understand he's retoolin' that quasi Italian spot in Manalapan. I'd go there for seafood any time with a lot of faith.
