Chicago with a 6 month old
We're headed to Chicago in August, and our daughter will be 6 months old. My husband and I love fine dining, but we'll need some place that will be comfortable with her dining with us. Any suggestions? I went to Mercat a la Planxa several years ago and had a wonderful meal. It's probably not good for babies, right? Perhaps we could go for lunch? Any other "must see" sights while we're there? We were thinking Boat Tour, Navy Pier, and Shedd....oh and the air show! Any ideas? Thanks!
Consider Bandaro's, north of the river on Michigan Avenue. A little further north, in Water Tower Place, we usually take the kids to Mitey NIce Grill for lunch. Lots of kids there and the food is pretty good for adults.
Quartino's is a comfortable place to go with a baby and has decent Italian food. Most restaurants, short of the most upscale tony places would be fine. My experience would be to go early for dinner so you can get her in bed before she gets fussy.
Try The Lobby at the Peninsula Hotel. It's located close to the Mag Mile. The chef used to be one of the sous chefs at Eleven Madison Park and you can tell that he was heavily influenced by EMP.
Last time I dined there, there were a couple of tables with kids eating, so you won't feel out of place. Also, DP and I shared an appetizer. Instead of just bringing out the appetizer and an extra plate, they plated 2 sets for us without asking.
