Rendang Recs?

  • 2

So rendang is #1 on CNN's list of the "World's 50 Best Foods", but I've had no luck finding this fantastic dish in the DC area. Any recommendations? Any nation's variation will do (Malaysian, Indonesian, etc).

  1. Interesting list. I tried rendang at a couple of Malaysian places when I lived in DC and they were pretty terrible. Golf ball sized chunks of tough beef are not my thing at all. If you find a good rendang within a day's drive of DC, let me know.

There is Satay Sarinah in Alexandria, the only Indonesian place I know about. Used to be in Georgetown, DC many moons ago. I've been there a couple of times. A good place to know about but nothing thrilling. I have not tried the rending.
