Sagra review

Went with a groupon to this lovely restaurant on East 11th. Full length windows surround the tables, making it very bright and cheery. I had the Principessa salad (Arugula, radicchio, apple, beets, pecans, goat cheese, balsamic vinaigrette $7), which was quite large and very good. The Husband had vegetarian pasta (Buccatini alla Nona, Sundried tomato, summer vegetables, cecci, basil pesto broth, crème fraiche, hollow beet spaghetti $13) which was tasty but oddly unattractive (pink pasta "worms" in a bright green sauce that he said looked just like vomit, and he is a doctor so he would know). Still, he ate it and liked it.

Service was delightfully friendly. I think the groupon is still available. Well worth a visit. Most items are available vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free; even the Rigatoni alla Bolognese (Beef, pork, lamb, tomato ragu, sunny egg, red wine rigatoni $14).

  1. I was glad to hear that they found a new location and are able to keep their business going. I last went on their all you can eat mussels Tuesday deal. ($13?) I think you get a choice of red or white sauce. We also had what sounds like the Principessa salad and thought it was delicious and a great value.

your anecdote about the vomit/worm pasta is funny and totally relatable.

will have to check it out again

    1. At least with bucatini, you can inhale through the pasta while slurping it up. You get the "nose" of the sauce that way. Unless it tastes like actual vomit, it is a good thing!
