Virtual Cake Day for Home Cooking denizens everywhere?

buttertart Jul 5, 2013 09:31 AM

TorontoJo recently posted the results of the Toronto group's Cake Day results -- and it looks as if much fun was had by all.
How about we designate a day, say a Saturday, and have a virtual Cake Day?
We won't be able to share the results, but we will be able to share photos and self-critiques/comments from those who do try the cakes.
What say you?

Love it. Vote for October. Perfect time to start baking.

Perhaps too formal, but what about a quarterly cake day, where there is a theme -- Bundt, cakes with fruit, chocolate, spiced, chiffon, boozed-based -- something vague enough to leave plenty of choices, but just enough in common to tie everything loosely together. You can call it The Cakers Dozen

I like the theme idea, and the name. It would be great to have it seasonal.

I like this idea! It gives all of us more opportunity to participate. The themes would be so fun, too!

I have plenty of cool weather in the near future. How about an ongoing thread about our cake creations?

I would love to participate as long as my icing job will not be critiqued! September to October is a perfect time to make a cake....Summer would be great to make some kind of chilled confection.

should it not be on bastille day?

Depending on the day, I'm in. Although I'm in Toronto, so I could technically do the non-virtual Cake Day. :)

If it can be a cake we've made in the past, I'm in.

It doesn't have to be this Saturday...what's best for all?

November? It's too hot to do much baking!

Seriously, it's unlikely our oven will be on again until Mid-October.....

How about early September? Also, how about we do it next year around the same time as Toronto Jo so we can feel the love?

Early Sept means I'd have a higher likelihood of participating.

I'm all for a fall cake day! I have no problem with more than one cake day in a year, because it's CAKE. :o)

You really should have the title of Cake Lady, based on your love of cakes!

I prefer to think of myself as the cake pusher. ;)
