PVD/RI * July '13 * Open/Closed/Coming Soon

June seemed to be slow on the food front. What's new or different in July?

  1. Looks like the Julian's people are opening up a pizza place. If I remember right it's on Westminster near Battey St.

    I'm looking forward to this!

    1. Adesso on the Hill is moving from Federal Hill to North Providence on Charles Street (3rd restaurant in this spoit in the last 3 years). Since I live near here I am psyched - the previous place Edwards was horrible (and the restaurant Edwards replaced was mediocre). Here's hoping Adesso ends that the bad luck.

That's interesting, I wonder if it was a function of the costs of being on Federal Hill or a super opportunity in North Providence.

I thought Adesso was fine in my times going, but I'm not sure it was special enough to thrive on Federal Hill. What they do was far more unique on Thayer than on Atwell Ave.

Maybe a combination of both. It will be so much better than the last 2 places it will shine in comparison, as opposed to Federal Hill where it might have got lost in the shuffle, as you implied. It's a good space (although the interior could use updating and make better use of the bar area),with plenty of parking, so the right restaurant should succeed.

      2. Birch opened in the spot formerly occupied by Tini.

        1. There's a rumor that the Duck and Bunny will open other outlet in the old Roam dog club space on Westminster.

Does anyone know what's going on with the diner on Westminster?

          1. succotash on richmond st is open i guess....

            1. UMelt has opened, in the spot next to Cilantro's on Weybosset.

              1. From the Projo food section today:

Oki Japanese Steakhouse in North Providence has closed and DiParma Italian Table in Seekonk has a "closed for remodeling" sign up. But, it also says that the restaurant is no longer listed on the website.

                1. Lucky Garden in North Providence is also "closed for remodeling." Hope and pray that the sign speaks the truth and that one of Providence's best spots for dim sum and Chinese will return soon.
