Looking for a hard to find Mexican Spice

Aqueya Jul 1, 2013 04:15 PM

Hey Hounds..

I'm on the hunt to find a spice I can have mailed to Canada. It's known as Rosita, Rosita de Cacao, and also the Quararibea funebris or Funeral tree (flower). I'm looking for dried flower to mix into recipies.

Does anyone know of any stores that sell this, online or off? Please let me know. Thanks.

Rosita de cacao is used more for medicinal purposes than for cooking, although in Oaxaca it's mixed into tejate (a drink). It's probably more easily found in a medicinal herb stand than in a spice booth.

Ohh! I love learning about new spices!

I am going to the Mercado Medellín in Colonia Roma (Mexico City) on Friday and can look for it for you. How much do you need?
