We have favorite restaurants in Portland and Rockland but are not familiar with eating places in these other cities. We love all fish and seafood and would also enjoy an ethnic restaurant or two. Can you help us?

For Augusta...check out nearby Hallowell (2 miles south of State Capitol)

    Slates...upscale/eclectic new American
    Cafe de Bangkok
Liberal Cup...brew pub w/ excellent pub food

If you're looking for something "fancier" go w/ Slates. Again, emphasis is on locavore, bold flavors.

If you're looking for excellent "pub fare", Liberal Cup. Fish & Chips, Shepard's Pie, Burgers, etc. along with excellent brewed-on-the-premises beer/ale.

Thanks HD -- with our reduced appetites these days, bold flavors is what we look for! Hopefully we can get to Slates. My brother just bought a house in Belgrade Lakes so we will be pretty close by. Wish Waterville had some "bolder" eateries!

The reviews on Yelp for both places include complaints about prices. I suspect those are from locals. Coming from the DC area, the prices look fine to me!
