New Expo Line Station Cafe & Sculpture Garden?

  • 7

Anyone have any information on the cafe (and the absolutely wonderful outdoor sculpture garden that runs alongside the building) on on the west side of Stewart (28th Street by any other name) just barely south of Olympic Blvd?

I was riding by this morning about 3:30AM when I spied the sculptures. Did a u-turn and rode right through the middle of the sculpture garden (kind of reminded me of smaller scale Jeff Koons pieces) and discovered that they have a cafe in the building as well. Just the art is worth the trip, but if they are going to be offering food too that's a win-win...

  1. I know nothing about the cafe, but inquiring minds are somewhat curious as to what a certain OP is doing riding around at 3:30AM (!).... ::snort::

I think it is well-known on this board that Servorg goes bicycling in the very early morning hours. He turns up interesting reports, such as this one.

If you go to check out the Cafe you'll know you're in the right place when you see these just outside the building with the Cafe in it (took these a little after 4AM this morning).

Food for the body and food for the soul. What's not to like?

Thanks for the link. Looks like it is not associated with the Expo line after all. I looked around for a sign while riding around the building admiring the art and never saw one. Have you tried their food? You and Dommy are now a long way from Santa Monica in your new digs.

I was being a train geek and wondering the Expo ROW to see how construction was coming along. I remembered your post and made sure to note the place which was closed when I passed by. Though we're further away form Santa Monica, we are close to Expo. When Phase 2 opens, we'll have a much easier time getting to Santa Monica.

I was looking at their menu and now I want one of the pressed sandwiches described as "Tuscan Focaccia Panini with Roasted Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Red Onion, Pepperocini and Basil Sauce for $8.95"
