Near the Westin edge of Old Montreal

Candy Jun 28, 2013 03:11 PM

We used to live in Plattsburgh and knew Montreal well. Our visits back there and to Montreal have have dwindled. Hopefully with retirement we'll have a summer home in P-burgh area and will visit more often. Anyway we have 1 day and one night. I'd love some suggestions for dining, lunch and dinner near the Westin on St. Antoine O. We know China town is not far. We are very familiar with the metro system. Thanks in advance.

Here are some of our favorite Old Montreal joints: Barroco (Spanish), Beaver Hall (French), BEVO Bar + Pizzeria (Italian), Gibby's (Steakhouse), Helena (Portuguese), Osteria Venti (Italian).

For a second I thought you had recommended the Beaver Club and thought that was really a really weird rec

I would skip steak while you are in Montreal I don't like Gibby's or Moishes.

      I second Osteria Venti

You have a lot of options nearby. But if I had to choose just 3: Olive et Gourmando for lunch, Les 400 Coups and Le club chasse et pĂȘche for dinner.

Venti was also a favorite of mine, but now that the chef is gone, I don't know if it's the same.

It is still very good. Hungover diners pissed everyone off by banging tables at lunch and yelling in a place that is already not great for quiet conversation ... GMs fault for not telling them to stfu or leave though
