Trip to Maine -- advice needed

I am planning a trip to Maine -- I haven't been there is at least 14 years. Before that I used to spend two weeks there every summer. I am planning on visiting: Ogunquit, Kennebunk/Kennebunkport (Clam Shack!), Kittery and Portland. Also I might be stopping in Portsmouth NH. I am looking for some good cheap eats in the area plus one nice option for a celebration dinner. This will be late July. Is there anything going on in the area that I should check out? Any other towns I should stop in/wander through/eat at?

What are the don't miss places? Dessert?

Thanks for the help.

  1. For your celebration dinner check out Ocean in Kennebunkport at the Cape Arundel Inn. We were there a month ago and the food, views, ambience and service were great. The chef is from the now gone 98 Provence in Ogunquit.

    1. Why don't you look around on this board and come back with more specific questions? There are lots of posts about these areas.

      1. If you can get a reservation at Fore Street in Portland that would be a great place for the celebration dinner. Their mussels are amazing! The kitchen is open in the restaurant so you can see all the action.
Also Duck Fat is delicious (in Portland)
I love Maine! Have a great time.
