ISO-Food trucks, cheap eats, local flavor in SD

Good morning! Looking for excellent food trucks and cheap eats. We're staying way up in Sorrento Mesa but will have a car.
We've been to: Bluewater Seafood, Barbarella in La Jolla, Anthony's Fish Grotto (gross).
We are foodies and love the local places, no matter the $$. Even though I asked for cheap eats, If it's delicious, we will eat there.
Any reccos for Coronado are welcome, too!

  1. Yeah, sorry about Anthony's. They're a little embarrassing.

I'd like to suggest Los Quatros Milpas as good cheap eats. I enjoy it often, and believe it to be a local flavor.

    Others may disagree.

sounds good to me! Thank you!

      2. Lots of food trucks congregate in the area where you'll be staying. This list doesn't get updated until around 10am each morning: http://sdfoodtrucks.com/

And this one is a site of the twitter feeds and locations sent by the trucks: https://twitter.com/SDFoodTrucks

          Thanx, phee!

        2. 'Wich Addiction for sandwiches in Mira Mesa is close to where you are staying and good for lunch. Same people as the Devilicious food truck which is also good.

If you are looking for good coffee in the area, I recommend the iced coffee at Zumbar

I do like a good coffee

          2. There isn't much that really screams "local flavor" when it comes to San Diego.

There are two that might qualify -- local beers and perhaps fish tacos.

First the first, I would look at this site http://www.westcoastersd.com/ for some ideas of local breweries to visit.

For the latter, I think Oscar's is pretty good for fish tacos, and it's cheap.

Also, if you like cold treats, I would visit Viva Pops for paletas and Mariposa for ice cream.

Also a helpful resource for locating craft beer locations:

Coronado Brewing has a pub in Coronado. Sounds axiomatic but their tasting room is in Bay Park.

            2. I love Leroy's on Coronado.
