hhc Jun 25, 2013 12:09 AM

Just read about it mentioned in the local paper about Fort Bragg having the World's Largest Salmon BBQ. This yr it's Sat July 6, 2013.

Website I found this:
July 6: World’s Largest Salmon BBQ (Salmon Restoration Association). BBQ tickets are $25 at the door or $20 at Harvest Market. Admission is free. Come and listen to the music and enjoy the afternoon in Noyo Harbor. BBQ Starts at 11am and goes to 6 pm. No dogs allowed in the dining area.

It's been about 20 years since the last time we went to the salmon bbq, but it used to be a fairly good deal for a fundraiser, which I'm pretty sure is in Noyo Harbor. If I recall correctly, for the price of admission you get a pretty big slab of salmon cooked on the grill, an ear of corn, salad, bread, and maybe a potato, plus a soft drink. Picnic tables are set up in a huge grid, there's a band or two playing, beer and wine are available for an additional cost. The line to get in can be REALLY long, but once you're in, there's plenty of room to move around and find a place to sit and eat.

If you're going to be in the area, it's well worth it. Make an evening of it and catch the fireworks over the harbor after the barbecue.
