Twinkies Coming Back!

girloftheworld Jun 24, 2013 12:23 PM

July 15... twinkies will be back... think of all those people who cleared off their beaniebabies to make room on their basement shelves to hoard boxes waiting for the desperate times to come...

They never really left... there are six different copycat versions to choose from! But I hope they're going to bring back the snowballs and raspberry coconut-covered cakes too - nobody else makes those.

When Hostess closed shop our regional grocery chain started carrying the Canadian Vachon line of snack cakes which were surprisingly good (for packaged snack cakes):

I did not have your experience. The Vachon "Twinkies" I purchased were dry beyond belief. I tossed them.

I realize that Twinkies themselves were not that great the last few years but the Vachon knockoffs were truly inedible.

I hope the seasonally colored Snoballs will return in all their florescent glory.

For me, it's Ho-Hos I miss. No substitute will do.

Never a fan of the Twinkie and didn't try the Vachon version. I had some of the other cakes which were novel and pretty good.

That's not much of victory for mankind.
Or for anything resembling real food.

Yeah, my first thought was that this belongs in Not About Food.
