Nevada lettuce

  • 2

Anyone else grow this? This is my first time growing it. It is supposed to stand up to the heat better and resist bolting. So far so good. It makes a beautiful head, pretty enough to grow for decoration. Great taste, just a hint of bitterness. Great for salads or on sandwiches, really good in "kilt lettuce" as my Grandmother called salad made with hot bacon drippings.

  1. I used the cut-and-come-again method, so mine never made it to a complete head. (And I was growing it in a shady spot, so it might not have formed one anyway.)

So did it do well in the heat of high summer? I have mine planted between 2 rows of okra, but the okra has been so slow to get going that it's not providing any shade as yet.
