Is there a place in LA like Max Brenners or Ghiradelli?

Looking to indulge my sweet tooth in a big way-would like to find a huge chocolate palace filled with decadent chocolaty things.

There are Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour restaurants in Brea, Santa Clarita and Riverside. I have been to the one in Scottsdale Az and thought it good......when I wasn't over at the Sugar Bowl!

Just saw your post and had to laugh at the responses - none of them come close to what you are looking for!

It makes me crazy that Las Vegas can support a Max Brenners and a Serendipity but here we have nothing of the sort.

Yes,there are places with a great chocolate dessert or shops that sell chocolate but that's it.

There is a Ghiradelli branch at Disney's California Adventure!

        Here's an idea for you.

Why not head to Neiman Marcus, grab some of their chocolates from their shelves, then get yourself a table and a stiff drink (or two) at Mariposa, and if the pre-packaged chocolate boxes aren't enough for you, the menu today had it a variety of chocolate desserts, incl. a pot-de-creme.

I am a big fan of Littlejohn's in the Orginal Farmers Market at 3rd and Fairfax. Best homemade candies, English toffee and more.
          http://www.littlejohnscandies.com,

Dylan's Candy Bar is now open at the Grove right next door.

There's a fucking bizillion places like Ghiradelli's in SF or Max Brenner's in NYC.

            John Kelly
            Valerie Confections
            Chocohalics
            Lady Chocolatt Cafe
            K Chocolatier
            L'Artisan du Chocolat

Is there something in particular you're looking for?

Yes. A place where I could sit at a table or bar and order up some crazy chocolaty concoctions, like chocolate fondue or a big ol sundae. Not like a candy store. Preferably with alcohol (like Max Brenners).

No place I know of has a chocolate bar/shop that serves alcohol, unfortunately.

I was with some friends on Sunday and dropped into Tom Bergin's on Fairfax. A couple of people ordered the Irish coffee sundae. They make their own Irish coffee ice cream and at least one of the people who ordered said it definitely had a "kick." There is some chocolate syrup involved too. You might like that. Everyone who ordered liked it. I got another dessert and it was pretty good too (no booze involved).

not eeexactly like Brenners or Ghirsfrlli, but I would suggest:

                  MILK

ESSENTIAL CHOCOLATE in Culver City (or in the Westside Pavillion)

                  HAUS in Koreatown
YELLOW HOUSE in Koreatown (outdoor s'mores!)

I would also throw in SHAKY ALIBI (Ice cream over a leige waffle covered in crunchy speculoos, MMMMMM)

On the same waffle tip SYRUP DESSERTS in Downtown

                  RAMEKIN in Los Feliz

                  FLOAT in Pasadena

                  SWEET ROSE CREAMERY in Brentwood

If you want a great sundae, go to LAWRY'S or TAM O'SHANTER (bittersweet hot fudge!)

or go chocolate souffle at LITTLE NEXT DOOR in mid-city

Awesome! Been to Milk, love it, but I'm looking for a more "choco-centric" place. I'll google all your other suggestions, thanks!

With the exception of Essential Chocolate, there are really no places on that list that are chocolate-centric, and many of them don't even serve chocolates of any kind like Ramekin, Haus, Yellow House, etc.

Lawry's bought out CC Brown's hot fudge sauce -- which in mho is the best of the best of the best. You can even buy a jar of it to bring home. The ice cream just gets in the way. You can eat the sauce with a spoon.

John Kelly has great chocolate, but it's strictly takeout--unless you want to stand in front of the counter and pig out.
