The old man Tony was killed by his youngest son overnight. I am just in shock.

That is horrible. He was always so kind. I didn't go there often, for reasons of geography and calories, but was pleased to indulge every once in a blue moon, when in that part of NDG. He worked so hard.

For readers not from Montréal, this from the CBC MTL website:
Neighbours say the victim is Tony Koulakis, the founder of Cosmos Snack Bar, a legendary greasy spoon restaurant in Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

A popular documentary, "Man of Grease", was made about him.

All my condolences to the family. Tony was indeed very kind everytime I went and would put on a special smile when the kids came with me. A sad loss.

Holy crap read about a murder of an 86 yr old VSL man this am then in the afternoon i read about Tony's passing. Then I see this post and figured OP was just mixing up his story. Sad, condolences to the family.

Did the accused son work at the restaurant?

All the kids did. 2 sons and a daughter. I can't speak for the last 15 years, but in my 20s, the accused worked behind the counter often. They were a very colorful, entertaining family.

I moved to the neighbourhood about 8 years ago, and I've never seen the accused working at the place, only the other son and the daughter.

Was definitely there a few days a week with Nicki when I was at ConU from 2006-2010. What a horrible story all along. Heartfelt condolences to a uniquely Montreal family.

How awful. My condolences to the family. NDG was home in the 90s. There was nothing like a Cosmos breakfast after a late night.
