Dropping off spouse @ OAK on a Saturday for an early flight.

Good breakfast possibilities in the vicinity?

There's not much or any place to have breakfast near OAK. There's a Carrow's and chain types places near the Walmart but that's about it. I think Alameda or Fruitvale are your best bets.

Alameda and Fruitvale both fine--San Leandro also--early AM breakfast picks there?

In the Park St. area of Alameda: For traditional coffee shops/diners, Ole's and Jim's open at 6 a.m.; Red Onion opens at 7 a.m.; alternatively, La Penca Azul opens at 7 a.m. (serves both American and Mexican-style breakfast); Little House Cafe (more casual, California-style) opens at 6:30.

Poking around, I see that Blue Dot Cafe and Coffee Bar is open at 7, and it looks like it might be good.

depending on which direction you're heading after OAK, there's Brown Sugar kitchen that opens at 7 and finally there won't be a line.

Not sure if it's on your way, but Bette's DIner is open at 6:30am.

20 minutes by freeway. Downtown oakland has a few options (right off the freeway) much closer.
