Oysters in San Diego

jbol Jun 21, 2013 09:16 AM

I've been on an oyster binge lately and with what seems like a number of new oyster bars popping up, I was wondering if I am missing any places to go. Any suggestions? Last week we went to Fish Public and tried a sampling of items including oysters. The Fanny Bay's were nice but at $3/oyster, way too pricey.

I like having oysters at the Oyster Bar at the Fish Market Downtown..
They have a happy hour in the lounge with $1.25 freshly shucked oysters and their chowder, cheesy bread, steamers and oysters rock are fantastic.

Their sushi bar is pretty damn good too...don't do the downstairs resto..only Top of the Market and the back patio with the bayfront for cocktails and apps is solid.

Oceanaire in the Gaslamp has a happy hour that used to include oysters for around $1..double check with them.

McCormicks and Schmicks at the Omni has everyday happy hour with oyster shooters.

I love Kumamoto oysters..small, clean things of beauty.

      They still do.

What's less known is that Oceanaire also has $1 oysters all day on Sundays.

Oceanaire was my go to for oysters after work. That's great to know about $1 oysters on Sunday! I'm not a huge fan of the room, dark and no windows but I will definitely go on Sunday.

We took advantage of the second, "late" happy hour that runs from 9 - 10 pm Mon - Thursday, also with $1 oysters and low beer prices. That might not be news, but I didn't know about it until now. Looking around the oyster bar, it seemed like we were in the company of some serious oyster lovers!

I love going to the bar at the Fish Market. Actually I love eating at any bar, oyster or not.

Last Thursday we went to PB Fish shop for their $1 oyster happy hour. Sat outside and enjoyed the 6 or 7 varieties of oysters. Totally different vibe but fun nonetheless.

The Brigantine always has a good selection. However, the Oyster Bar at the Fish Market is terrific -- if you can get a seat.

          Good call wank..
Fish Market Downtown, you can sit in the bar lounge next to the Obar if there is no seating and you can do the menu..
I am a bird of prey when it comes to those coveted seats..

Second that! One of my most memorable nights out ever was chowing down on oyster after oyster at a window table in the Fish Market bar with a friend.

Thanks...I forgot that they were putting an oyster bar in. It's been a few months since I've been there.

Brooklyn Girl has fantastic oysters. My husband and I have had their oysters on 5-6 occasions and each time, they have great - very fresh and reasonably priced. Some of the best in San Diego.

Add Blue Point to the list of $1 oysters, 5 - 6:30. Nice peaceful place on 5th for a late drink, too.
