Looking for a new Tex-Mex place in Somerset/Union/Middlesex

romin8889 Jun 21, 2013 08:21 AM

Taking my mom out for dinner this upcoming wednesday and she really likes Tex-Mex, but we're tired of the long wait as Jose Tejas and don't really enjoy On the Border much. Any other sit down type Tex-Mex places in the area? Anywhere in Union/Middlesex/Somerset county's or not too far from these areas work for us, thanks in advance!

The wife and I tried out Grub Hut in Manville for the first time and enjoyed it. Good mix of BBQ and Mexican items on the menu. She's asked a few times when we we'd be going back.

+1. Haven't been in a while, but enjoyed Grub Hut many times in the past. Note it's BYOB.

Tried it twice. Not authentic and overly crowded. Bland at best.

Mis Amigos in Dunellen is excellent. Authentic food and always fresh. They also have the best guacamole around! Indoor/outdoor seating and BYO.

1+ on Casa Maya, great food. More of an authentic Mexican joint than TX/MEX though, IMHO
