"Jack in the Box closing nearly 70 Qdoba restaurants"

I've never really enjoyed eating at any of the counter service burrito places. Chipotle, Qdoba, and the favorite of this board, Hot Head Burritos :).

They all make me feel hurried and hassled when I have to pick ingredients at top speed while there's a line of people behind me. I don't even get this feeling at Subway which has a similar service format.

The Qdoba I've been to locally always seems much less "personable" than any other fast food restaurant. So, no big surprise.

Good. They suck. Went one time in Rockville MD and they served my husband partially cooked chicken. I mean, it was friggin pink. Never went back, never will.

Fast casual taco chains serve a broad niche: they're less revolting than Taco Bell but not as scary authentic as real-deal tacquerias that serve menudo and tripe. Still, places like Moe's and Baja Fresh seem to be closing left and right. Maybe it's the economy. Or maybe people don't want to pay extra for "fresh" food that tastes like nothing.

When a friend of mine recently said that he loved going to Qdoba, everyone in the vicinity looked at him like he was insane and said "Why!?"

Qdoba: a bland, lousy Chipotle with nachos. Good riddance.
