Liquor Store with great beer selection in (preferably) midtown?

I'd like to grab a couple of packs of Bell's Two-Hearted Ale or something similar before leaving the city and driving up to the Mohonk for July 4th weekend... Can anyone please recommend a great beer store around Midtown (or anywhere in Manhattan I suppose) that stocks Bell's or has great selection where I'd be likely to find it?

Thanks!

Beer isn't sold in liquor stores in NY state... but it is sold in supermarkets, delis, bodegas, etc. Liquor stores only sell wine and spirits.

By liquor store I meant bodega or corner store (depanneur where I come from)... I just assumed these terms were interchangable.

Nonetheless, where can I find Russian River or something similar if Bell's is unavailable in or around Midtown?

      Thanks!

I can't answer for specific beers, but in Grand Central Terminal there is a nice beer store with a great selection of bottled beer and growlers. The store is on the main floor opposite the Track #'s in the teens (near the 44th and Lexington entrance to the station).

Whole Foods, especially the one on Houston at the Bowery, has a great beer selection.

agreed. it's called beer table pantry and has a great selection of beers. it's in between joe's coffee and a shoeshine place in the graybar passage.

Neither of those breweries distribute in NY state.

If you have a car, just stop by New Beer Distributors on Chrystie Street or the Whole Foods on Houston. Both have great selections.

They are close to one another so you can check both places out. New Beer tends to be a little cheaper for the same product.

If you are willing to head uptown, City Swiggers on E 86th might have what you are looking for.

Are you sure Bell's is sold here? According to their web site, it is not distributed to New York state.

I have no clue actually, I just assumed it would be and sort of hoped so. It seemed ideal for relaxing dockside at the Mohonk.

            East Side or West?

Doesn't make much difference I suppose... we're staying at the St. Regis and would be stopping on the way to the I-95. But we'll be in NoHo as well earlier that morning. Location is secondary to stocking top selection as I don't mind picking something up in Greenwich or the East Village over the course of the weekend either. I just figured something near the St. Regis would be most convenient.
