We've been discussing on another Masterchef US thread that there is a big spoiler embedded in the opening promo part of episodes 1, 2 and 3 of the 2013 Masterchef US. (And also a lesser weird glitch involving the "missing" contestant Nick Garcia.) The spoiler scene takes place where they show a montage in the opening of the various challenges that the contestants will be facing this season. One of these clips shows Paula Deen driving up on a tractor to meet five of the cheftestants standing in the middle of a road/driveway at a farm. No other contestants appear. It appears that these contestants are the final five. At least 3 of the contestants are very identifiable. The other 2 can be worked out somewhat. A lot of contestants can be eliminated. We've been discussing it without naming names on the other thread and made this thread specifically to name who we think the last five standing contestants are. Do not read this thread if you do not want to know this information.
Okay. I've let this thread sit for a while before posting any names just in case it violated some rules or such. Please remember you were warned of spoilers and you are on this thread by your own choice.
In the scene during the Paula Deen section the five contestants are standing side by side. I'm going to refer to them from left to right. Again, this is my opinion only. Contestant #4 is clearly Krissi. Contestant #1 is clearly Natasha. There is room for speculation on the other 3 just because I'm viewing it on a laptop.
Contestant 5 is clearly James as he has long hair and beard.
Contestant 3 can be one of two people: skinny blondes. Im betting on Jessie
Contestant 2 is, I'm guessing, Luca. Lynn and Jordan who you would have assumed would be there have different hair and are much taller.
re: C. Hamster
I agree with James on 5. At first I had a hard time seeing the beard, but blowing it up then it was obvious, and he seems to be "standing like a guy." I immediately assumed 3 as Jessie. I suppose it could be Savannah but looks more like Jessie to me as well. Number 2 completely threw me. I really expected that to be Lynn. But it clearly is not. After reading some of your posts on the other thread I agree with you that it looks the most like Luca, for me because of the hair and the clothes.
Biggest surprise to me? Lynn not being in the top 5.
Biggest annoyance factor? Krissi and Natasha for weeks and weeks and weeks.
By the way masterchef is doing a cook along with chef Krissi tonight.
He's not wearing a tie but he's wearing bright blue shoes, which is in keeping with Luca's preference for color.
I am flabbergasted that Krissi and Natasha are still there.
But maybe this is Real Housewives of Hell's Kitchen -- Masterchef Edition. I can't imagine the drama and venom is going to be easy to watch.
I had James picked as a dark horse. Jessie is obviously talented.
I really like Luca but am shocked that Lynn and Jordan, Lynn especially, didnt make it to the top 5. But all it takes is a little screw up here or there ....
re: C. Hamster
I really expected to see Lynn there. He does food photography much like Becky from last season and seemed to have a lot of skill. At first I thought Natasha might be Bri, but clearly the miniskirt and heels (at a farm) gave that away.
I will probably start watching MC a little differently now, focusing on what foods these five are putting up. Jessie in real life is a chef, so not surprised to see her. I think Luca and James are probably the nicest of the group. I thought Luca's reasoning for taking the mixer was well thought out and not malicious, and that made me like him more.
I understand that this challenge was taped ages ago, but depending on how Paula Deen's new legal situation continues - I wonder if they'd do any re-editting of the episode to cut down her facetime.
It probably wouldn't work to cut the episode entirely, but depending on how big Deen's case is closer to the time of that episode airing, I wonder how much praise they'll want to be seen giving her.
